This is a reminder that the temporary waiver on Exit Summary Declarations (EXS) will soon be coming to an end. From 1 October 2021, an EXS will be mandatory for ALL UK Exports that do not require a full Customs Declaration. Please note failure to make an EXS declaration prior to arrival at Port may result in your unit (self-drive or unaccompanied) not shipping.
This includes:
- Empty units (vehicles, lift units, trailers), empty returns packaging, stillages and pallets etc
- Movements under Transit formalities (That do not require a full Customs Declaration)
If you are shipping with us as Driver Accompanied (Self Drive – SDV), then the rules around EXS from HMRC mean that the operator of the ‘active means of transport’ is responsible for creating the EXS. For RoRo, this means the Haulage Company or Shipping Company (Customer) is responsible for lodging the EXS declaration for ‘accompanied’ goods. This applies to bookings leaving the UK on our North Sea Routes, from Tilbury, Hull and Teesport.
