This project will include replacing the hangers on Menai Suspension Bridge. There will be a 7.5t vehicle weight restriction on the bridge from 5am 2nd June 2022. This will improve safety on this part of the network and reduce the risk of unplanned closures.

Why is there a weight limit on the bridge?

A 7.5t vehicle weight restriction will be in place on the bridge as a precaution until the hangers are replaced. Restricted vehicles will be diverted via the A55 Britannia Bridge. Further details about the hanger replacement project will be published as soon as possible.

Will there still be a lane closure in place with traffic lights?

The lane closure and traffic lights will be removed once the weight restriction is in place. Further lane closures will be needed during repair works and the hanger replacement. These will be advertised closer to the time. Every effort will be made to plan these lane closures outside of peak hours wherever possible to minimise disruption.
